Douglas James Merwin Jr. of Leslie, formerly of Eaton Rapids,

Passed away February 14, 2017 at the age of 66. Doug was born in Eaton Rapids, August 8, 1950 the son of Douglas and Janet (Kowalk) Merwin Sr. He enlisted with the US Army and served during the Vietnam War. Doug was a builder and carpenter, owning and operating his own business called Twin Pines, for 15 years. He loved, boating, camping, music, motorcycles, and traveling up north. He had a strong faith in God and was a former member of the First Baptist Church in Eaton Rapids. Doug loved his family and looked forward to the Family Christmas parties that were held at his home every year. He will be greatly missed by his family and his dogs, Baxter and Bella. 

Doug is survived by his wife, Paula Merwin; son, Graham (Barb) Merwin of Eaton Rapids; daughter, Jessica (Ken) Merwin-Scott of Traverse City; brother, Jerry (Julie) Merwin of Leslie; sisters, Paulette (Don) Soule of Mason, Janette (Stan) Seavey of Owosso; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. 

Funeral services will be 1 pm Saturday February 18, 2017 at the Shelly-Odell Funeral Home, 518 S. Main St. Eaton Rapids. Interment will follow in Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 4 pm to 7 pm and Saturday one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Sparrow Hospice.
