Jan A. (McGeachy) Lynch, age 70, of East Lansing, passed away Tuesday July 13, 2021. She was born in Eaton Rapids on June 14, 1951 to the late Harold (Bud) and June McGeachy. She is survived by her sisters, Gail Thompson, Jill McGeachy; niece, Vanessa Dora (Curtis ) McDaniel; nephews, Garrison Thompson, Micah McLaughlin, Luke McLaughlin; friend, Raymond Thompson; great- nephews, Cordell McDaniel, Lexington McDaniel, Quinn McDaniel, Asher McLaughlin; and great- niece, Haven McLaughlin. Preceding her in death are her parents, Harold and June McGeachy.
Admirable for her courage and strength, Jan, battled against Bile Duct Cancer for 4 years. Throughout her 4 year battle she never complained, even though she had every right too. She put one foot in front of the other and followed a path that made it possible for her stay on Earth to last as long as possible. Jan was a true warrior.
Before her retirement in 2020, Jan was a House director for 30 years at the Sorority House for Sigma Kappa East Lansing at Michigan State University. She also worked at MSU in the communication department for undergraduate student affairs for 16 years.
Jan was adventurous, independent, and creative.
Like the true Spartan supporter she was, and the biggest MSU fan, she seldom missed any games held at Spartan Stadium. She loved the MSU Marching Band, homecoming parades, and any other MSU events. She took charge of creating many homecoming floats and tailgating events. Jan and the other house mom’s often won with their immaculate floats and tailgating events.
Jan would also participate with the Play makers program. During races she achieved goals for herself and encouraged others by her support and camaraderie.
Jan will be remembered for her strength.
Per Jan’s wishes, cremation has taken place.
