Age 67 of Eaton Rapids, MI passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, November 10, 2017 with his family by his side. Steve was born on November 3, 1950 in Eaton Rapids the son of Frederick and Mary Jane (Colgan) Kapff. He was a graduate of Eaton Rapids High School class of 1969. Steve worked in the building trades as an estimator and in sales. He was employed by Olson Mastermark for 20 years and by Menards for 10 years. Steve was involved with the Eaton Rapids Zoning Board and the Planning Commission for over 20 years. He and his wife started the Safety Town program in Eaton Rapids and was a member of the Eaton Rapids Area Jaycees and a Jaycees International Senator #40298. Steve is preceded in death by his parents, sister, Diane Cherry; brother-in-law’s, Charles Cherry, Joe Drohn and Greg Drohn. Surviving are his wife of 37 years, Cheryl Kapff; son, Matthew Kapff; grandsons, Julian Kapff, Logan Kapff; brother, Martin (Robert Merliss) Kapff, mother-in-law, Glenna Drohn; sister-in-law, Lucinda Drohn; brother-in-law, Stephen (Marge) Drohn and numerous extended family and friends. A visitation will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at Skinner Funeral Home, Eaton Rapids. The family will receive friends at Red Ribbon Hall on Saturday, November 18, 2017 from 1-3 PM for a luncheon and celebration of Steve’s life.
