I graduated from U of M with a degree in biology then floated for a few years - was a bicycle repair person, a grocery store clerk, a college teacher, a carpenter, a woodworker, to name a few. After starting a woodworking shop, I also worked part time in a library and finally gave in to the inevitable - got my library degree and am now manager of the Technical Services department of the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute library.
I married at age 35 (completely surprising myself) and became an instance mother of three prepubescent daughters. Try that one on for culture shock. Thank goodness they are no longer teenagers. Two of them are teachers and one is a stay at home mom. They have made me the proud grandmother of five, not to mention a couple of granddogs.
Three years ago I was diagnosed with very early breast cancer. I am now a proud member of the Amazon tribe with an excellent prognosis. The experience taught me how many women cope with breast cancer and just how treatable and curable it can be if caught soon. So get those mammograms!
My husband Jim is a sweetheart with a generous spirit. My dog Buddy is too, plus he doesn't snore as much. I'm an avid gardener, reader, and quilter, plus I hike/walk a lot with the dog.
