Wow! Since 1969. Seems like only a few years ago at times and at times it seems like an eternity!I started out after graduation at LCC in Law Enforcement. That is what I thought I wanted to do. But after one year I decided that college was not like my high school years so I decided to try the work force. I got married in 1970 because all my friends were getting married and I figured I should go along with the crowd. (That was probably the last time I went along with a crowd). I was divorced after I had my son Shad in 1971. I worked many odd jobs to support myself and my new son. I started at the hospital in housekeeping. Then I heard that they were looking for school bus drivers. Mind you I had never even driven a stick shift in my life but I applied anyway. Ron Byerly trained me in parking lots and on the back roads until I was able to not jerk everyone out of their seats! I drove school bus for Eaton Rapids for 5 years. I gained alot of weight through those 5 years so I decided to join Weight Watchers. I lost a total of 149 pounds in nine month and felt great about myself. I felt the need to have a better income and medical insurance for my son and myself so I persued a new job. I was hired at Eaton Stamping in August 1977. The first day I worked with Mary Marrietta who had been on the job for 20 years. It was like 20 questions: Was I married? Did I have children?
Did I want to meet someone? Of course I answered all these questions with :Yes Mam, No Mam! She said to write my name and phone number down and she was going to give it to a guy at her square dance lessons who's wife had left him. I did and figured that that was the end of that. He, Marvin, called me 2 weeks later to go out with him bowling. We talked all night and got in at 5:00 a.ml. We were married 4 months later! 45 years ago this year! He had 3 children and I had my son so that made 4 to start out with. And then we had 2 more children together. That makes 6 ! We lived in Potterville until 1988 when we were asked by Marv's company to start a new plant in California for 2-5 years. We moved to Rancho Cucamonga, California in May of 1988. It ended up only being 2 years and we moved back to Eaton Rapids in January of 1990. We bought Bill Spaulding's old house on the corner of Plains and Waverly Roads. I remembered having parties here when I was in high school! We have been here 32 years now. Marv and I were talking and it is the longest either one of us have been in one home! I got real interested in Real Estate through our moving about so I had started my Real Estate Career in California. Michigan is the only state that does not allow other states classes and licenses so I took my classes again here. I got my license in 1990 and started working for Main Street Realtors. In 1993 I took my 90 hour class work and passed my Real Estate Brokers Exam and started working with Conner Realty Company . I went off on my own about 10 years ago now as an Independent Real Estate Broker. I love my work and I can work as much or as little as I want. I don't punch a time clock, I have met some wonderful people, made some great friend through work, and will be selling Real Estate until they tell me I can't...... Our kids are grown up now with families of their own. We have had them move out, move back in, and move back out. Right now at this writing Marv and I have 3 open bedrooms. I guess that's what we work for, but, boy it sure gets toooo quiet here at times! I keep busy with work and our newest grandson. Marv is 79 now and retired at 74. He keeps busy with raising bees and bottling honey. He had 72 pounds of honey put up this year ! Maybe one day we will take a long needed vacation to some quiet place just the 2 of us.......I must be dreaming again !

School Story:

Pushing Penny Johnson down the ramp in a gym towel laundry cart !

Skipping 6th hour business machine class with Miss Merritt and said I was going to student council meeeting. Went to the gym to play volleyball instead. Miss Merritt threw open the gym doors and saying to me "I thought you were at a student counsil meeting?" Then the gym doors slammed shut ! As my kids say-Busted !
